DR. MELANIE HUSSAIN
Registered Marriage and Family Therapy Intern
Dr. Melanie S. Hussain earned her doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy
from Nova Southeastern University. Her focus on the understanding and
empowerment of the self is based on a holistic approach to mental, emotional,
physical, and spiritual health. Melanie’s process dives into the Self to understand how
self-perception and value affects the dynamics of one’s life. Through a natural-systems
lens, she helps clients observe and connect with their authentic selves by focusing on
self-esteem, self-worth, and self-image. Her objective is to listen to her clients, their
stories, and the unique background that shapes their lives. Her approach is a multi-
process, which includes self-empowerment strategies, mood and appearance therapy,
and biopsychosocial analysis.
Dr. Hussain’s experiences span from the therapeutic room to the medical clinic and
she believes communal collaboration is a component of effective care. She provides
guidance and support for medical patients, families, physicians, professors, women’s
issues, those struggling with body image, and the LBGTQ+ community.
Growth through fashion and style therapy is her specialty. For the past five years, Dr.
Hussain has researched mood and appearance. And she incorporates this research
into practice. Dr. Hussain’s goal is to help her clients feel good both inside and out.
She does this by exploring the connection between what you wear and how you feel.
She understands that clothing is a form of self-expression and communication with
others. Through her model, Dr. Hussain’s clients make internal shifts in their
relationship with their external appearance. By helping them present themselves in the
way they want to look, her clients feel empowered.
Dr. Hussain helps her clients shift their focus and energy to better understand who
they are, where they have come from, and what has led them to the present. In doing
so, she helps her clients turn their visions into reality. Dr. Hussain believes in client
self-reflection. She finds that it reinforces the therapeutic relationship, which allows
clients to thoughtfully consider how they want to create, design, and style their lives.
Her vision for her clients is to help them process life minute by minute. Dr. Hussain
believes this approach enhances clients’ internal and external blossoming.
