Show your PRIDE. Be an ALLY.

Ways to be an Ally

Anyone can be an ally. Regardless of sexual orientation or sexual identity, anyone can show support for the LGBTQ community. What does it mean to be an ally?

  • A person who is genuine and has a strong concern for the well-being of the LGBTQ people

  • A person who supports and advocates for the community

  • A person who accepts and includes the community as a part of their world

The best ways to be an ally is to stay informed about the related LGBTQ news, educate yourself, do research, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Be honest about what you know and don’t know. It is also important to speak up on behalf of the community in circumstances that aren’t acceptable. One of the biggest ways to be an ally is to Come Out as an ally. Be proud and show your PRIDE to support and align with the LGBTQ community. In coming out, this a powerful and effective way to not only help the community feel comfortable, but also help others understand the importance of fairness and equality.
