You Should Meet My _______. Normalizing Conversations About Mental Health

Talking about mental health can feel daunting, but what if it didn’t have to be? What if it was as natural as introducing a friend, a mentor, a colleague, or someone who has impacted your life?

That’s the idea behind “You Should Meet My _______.”— a movement designed to break down the barriers to open conversations about mental health.  We are launching, “You Should Meet My _______.” in advance of May, because we see Mental Health Awareness Month as an opportunity to make talking about mental well-being a part of our everyday lives. The movement will include content across our various platforms, signature events, as well as merchandise. Our mission is to take this idea and create meaningful change in how we, as a society, talk and feel about mental health.

Why This Matters

Too often, mental health remains a topic kept in the shadows—something we address only in times of crisis or within the privacy of a therapist’s office or our own homes. But mental health, like physical health, is part of our overall well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and connect with others. The more we talk about it, the easier it becomes to offer support, seek help, and build communities that foster wellness.

Two people sit back-to-back, eyes closed, meditating. A brick wall and greenery are in the background, creating a calm atmosphere.

“You Should Meet My _______.” serves as a simple but powerful way to open these conversations. By bringing a friend, family member, or even just the story of someone who has shaped your mental health journey in a positive way, you’re helping to normalize and expand the dialogue.

Filling in the Blank

So, who will you introduce? It could be:

A therapist or coach who helped you navigate a challenging time

A friend who has been a source of unwavering support

A mentor or colleague who has modeled resilience and well-being

A book, podcast, or resource that shifted your perspective

Yourself—because sharing your own story may inspire others

This is about connection, community, and conversation. Whether you’re new to talking about mental health or an advocate already, your voice matters.

Join the Conversation

We invite you to join the conversation online and on socials, by wearing or gifting our exclusively designed merchandise, or at one of our signature events. Stay tuned for event details. Bring a friend, fill in the blank, and start the conversation that could make all the difference. Interested in hosting your own “You Should Meet My _________.” event? Let us know!

Together, we can make mental health a conversation we all feel comfortable having.
