We’ve all heard the phrase “fake it till you make it,” a saying that seems to promise confidence, courage, and success if we can just act the part long enough. But beneath its simplicity lies a deeper psychological process — the tension between who we are and who we’re becoming. The challenge isn’t in showing up; it’s in doing so authentically while our belief system catches up to our potential. In my coaching work, I’ve seen that the real transformation doesn’t come from pretending — it comes from practicing. The journey toward becoming your future self requires presence, patience, and honesty with the parts of you still learning to believe.
